Beyond ANPR
The MetroVision Unattended Outstation is a next-generation traffic enforcement system that uses Vision AI to monitor, track and detect traffic contraventions in real time.
Each Outstation comprises a ruggedised, column-mounted processor with integrated 5G/LTE communications, a high-definition (HD) overview camera covering the whole enforcement scene, and one or more HD close-up cameras for vehicle identification and evidence capture. A single Outstation can detect multiple contravention types simultaneously and generate a separate evidence package for each event.
Unlike traditional ANPR-led systems, MetroVision uses Vision AI to detect the contravention and plate recognition only to identify the vehicle, not the other way around. Vision AI continuously tracks vehicles across the entire scene, enabling accurate detection and classification. It can recognise vehicle types such as cars, buses, taxis, motorcycles, HGVs and other vehicle types independently of plate reads, providing an additional layer of validation where reads are incorrect or authorised vehicle databases are incomplete or out of date.
Because plate recognition is applied only after a contravention has been confirmed, MetroVision avoids the compromised positioning and limited field of view of traditional trigger cameras. This reduces missed contraventions and poor-quality plate reads, cuts operator workload caused by misreads, and limits missed detections caused by dirty or illegal plates. The result is more accurate enforcement, greater operational efficiency and better evidence quality.
Each Outstation connects directly to the MetroVision AI Instation, which centrally manages enforcement data, monitors system health and performance, and automatically prepares evidence packages for review.
The MetroVision Unattended Outstation is a VCA (Vehicle Certification Agency) Approved Device.
